As one of Brisbane’s leading fencing companies, here at Fence Corp it is our responsibility to ensure that all the fencing products we supply and install meets Queensland regulations and safety requirements. Since pool fencing is proven in being extremely effective in saving lives and prevent drowning, we share the responsibilities and legal obligations for properties with pools or homeowners who are considering building a pool in their backyard.
THE RULES:
REGISTERING YOUR POOL
All pools and spas in Queensland need to be registered with the Department of Housing and Public Works. To see if your property has already been registered use the property search function. Pools that are not registered many receive an on the spot fine of $200.00 and a maximum court penalty cost of $2000.00.
SELLING OR RENTING YOUR PROPERTY
Homeowners who are selling their property with a pool are encouraged to obtain a pool safety certificate by a licensed pool safety inspector. If you are selling your property without a pool safety certificate you need to declare the absence of a pool safety certificate with a Form 36. The responsibility is then with the new owner to obtain a new pool safety certificate within 90 days of settlement. Owners who are renting their property are required to obtain this certificate before leasing their property. Pool safety certificates are valid for 2 years for private use residential pools.
MAINTAINING YOUR POOL FENCING BARRIERS
Safety barriers are compulsory for all pools in Queensland that are deeper than 300 mm. It is also the responsibility of the homeowner to maintain these barriers in good condition. If your existing barriers are in disrepair or do not meet safety standard Fence Corp can supply and install new pool fencing that meets regulations including the need to have self closing gates and fences which measure at least 1200mm from top to bottom. We will also provide a Form 15 Certification after finalising the payment and install of your new pool fencing. This is a certificate can be given to the pool safety inspector and shows that your fencing complies with Australian standards.
We offer a range of affordable pool fencing options, including our new and talked about Glass Pool Fencing range which is proving to be particularly popular with Brisbane homeowners.
